Look not only to your own interests,
but also to the interests of others.
—Philippians 2:4
Jesus stated his mission plainly: “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve …” (Matt. 20:28).
He wants you to mirror that mission. “Anyone wanting to be the greatest must be the least—the servant of all” (Mk. 9:35 TLB).
Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interest, but about the interests of others as well (Phil. 2:3-4 NET).
Today take an intentional step away from self-interest and an intentional step toward the interests of others—from “It’s all about me” to “It’s all about you.”
Don’t isolate yourself in the ice of indifference.
