What she has done will also be told, in memory of her.
—Matthew 26:13
You know the game. Someone says a word. You respond with the first thing that comes to mind when you hear that word. Try it.
Hitler.
Mother Teresa.
The first probably elicited words of contempt. The second, words of admiration.
James Whitcomb Riley wrote about the death of Jim, a shop worker. At the cemetery a cluster of his fellow-workers were reminiscing. “When God made Jim,” said one, “I bet he didn’t do anything else that day but jest sit around and feel good.”
Think your influence will end at the grave? It won’t. Your earthly life will someday end. Memories of it, never.
How you live is how
you will be remembered.
