It will be done just as you believed it would.
—Matthew 8:13
A Roman army officer—as unlikely a believer as you’ll find—asked Jesus to heal his servant.
“I will go and heal him,” Jesus said.
“Lord,” he responded, “I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
“It will be done just as you believed it would,” said Jesus.
That’s the way things usually turn out—the way we believe they will.
If you expect to be mistreated, you probably will be—or at least think you are.
If you expect people to be warm and friendly, that’s likely what you’ll find.
If you expect some dread disease to come calling, you’ll get the jitters with every ache and sniffle.
Keep predicting that things are going to turn out bad
and you’re on your way to becoming a prophet.
