The peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:7
Two young men having lunch at the table next to mine were engaged in animated conversation. One turned to me and asked, “Sir, is there any such thing as a good-paying job without stress?”
I wasn’t qualified to answer that question. However, I am aware that stress is a national virus and that it isn’t limited to job-related hassles.
Is there an antidote, a prescription to combat stress? Yes. But it’s not a vaccine, pill, or therapy. It’s an invitation and promise from the Prince of Peace.
“My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (Jn 14:27).
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Pt 5:7).
Stress is the trash of modern life.
Jesus is the solution.
