When Your House is On Fire

This is the victory that has overcome
the world—our faith.”
    —1 John 5:4

J.D. Armstrong’s two-story home was on fire. He herded his wife and three children to the front door to make their escape. Suddenly, Todd, the youngest, ran back upstairs, unnoticed by his parents.

The terrified child appeared at the window, and J.D. shouted, “Jump, Todd, jump! I’ll catch you.” Todd wailed, “But Daddy, I can’t see you.” “I know, son,” his father called, “but I can see you. Jump, I’ll catch you. Trust me.”

I don’t know what you’re going through. You may feel like your house is on fire and there’s no way out. God says to you what J.D. said to his son: “Trust me.”

“But I can’t see him,” you say. I know, but he can see you.

“We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen” (2 Cor 4:18).

Don’t limit your possibilities to the visible.
