Bruised and Bent

Neither do I condemn you.
                  —John 8:11

Do you ever wonder how Jesus feels about you when you fail and flicker? “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out” (Mt 12:20).

Maybe you know how it feels to go from tall and strong to bruised and bent, from flaming to snuffed.

Is Jesus going to add to your bruises and pinch the wick of your flickering flame? Self-righteous critics came to him, accusing a woman of shame and scandal. Jesus chased them away and said to her, “I do not condemn you . . . Go, but do not sin again” (Jn 8:11 TEV).

If you ever wonder how the Lord reacts when you flop and flutter, copy those words and magnet them to your fridge door.

Jesus is in your corner.
