Blessed are those whose
transgressions are forgiven.
—Romans 4:7
Today’s scripture citation is an excerpt. The apostle Paul was extracting a portion of David’s. testimony: “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them” (Rom 4:7–8).
Adultery and murder were on David’s list of misdeeds. God sent Nathan to point the finger of accusation. David didn’t deny it; he confessed it: “I have sinned,” he said. And Nathan immediately replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin” (2 Samuel 12).
Paul’s quotation is David’s response (See Ps. 32:1–5).
Confess your sin and let go of your guilt, even if your conscience is sensitive and your memory painful. God promises that sins confessed are sins forgiven (1 Jn 1:9).
Can you believe it! I hope you can.
It seems too good to be true.
But it is true.
