Raymond Brown was a postman. One day, he had a letter to deliver to a new resident on his route. When he started up the walk, he was confronted by the biggest, fiercest dog he had ever encountered, coming at him full speed, teeth bared.
Raymond was terrified when the dog leaped at him. But the massive creature was chained to an iron rod set in concrete, which kept it from reaching its prey.
After that, when Raymond had a delivery to that house, he first looked at the iron rod to be sure the animal was tethered.
There’s a lesson for us in this story. When Satan gets to us, it’s usually because we haven’t kept our eye on the Cross, where he was defeated.
