Abraham believed God, and it was
credited to him as righteousness.
—Galatians 3:6
God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. That promise seemed impossible of fulfillment, for it was made when Abraham had no children and no prospect of any.
He waited twenty-five years to see the first installment of that promise. Abraham had his weaknesses and stumbles, but faltering faith wasn’t one of them. “Abraham believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness” (Gn 15:6). And God called him “my friend” (Is 41:8; Jas 2:23).
Abraham not only believed that God could, but that he would—even if he had to wait a quarter century to see it begin.
Strive for a faith strong enough to survive a long time before seeing results—and for a faith worthy of being called God’ s friend
When God says it,
he can and he will.
