Taking him by the right hand,
he helped him up.
—Acts 3:7
One afternoon Peter and John went to the temple, where they encountered a cripple who asked them for money.
Peter told him, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Then, “Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up.”
Instantly, “He jumped to his feet and began to walk.” Picture that! How long did it take you to learn how to walk? This man was over forty years old and had never walked a step in his life (Acts 3:2; 4:22).
“Taking him by the right hand, [Peter] helped him up.” Thomas Walker observed, “the power was Christ’s, but the hand was Peter’s.”
Do you know someone who needs an encouraging lift? Let it be your hand that provides it.
An encouraging word is a hand of help.
