My help comes from the Lord.
—Psalm 121:2
When his dad drove up, young Bill Frey was grubbing tree stumps on the family farm. After watching his son wrestle unsuccessfully with a stubborn one for a while, he said, “I see what your problem is. You’re not using all your strength.”
“Yes, I am!” Bill exploded.
“No, you’re not. You haven’t asked me to help.”
When Paul was feeling his weakness, the Lord told him, “My power works best in your weakness,” leading the apostle to say, “So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me. . . . For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor 12:9, 10).
You’re not using all your strength
until you have asked your Father for help.
