Death has been swallowed up in victory.
—1 Corinthians 15:54
Of all the days on our calendar, there is no day like Easter to irradiate our hearts with certainty that death has been swallowed up in victory.
The undeniable fact of Jesus’ resurrection infuses us with the assurance of ours as well. “Because I live, you also will live” (Jn 14:19).
The promise of resurrection silences the voices of skeptics and cynics.
Our fears fade.
Our frailties don’t seem so final.
Our grief over those who have gone on before us is diminished.
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? . . . thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
It’s Easter. Hallelujah!
