I will trust and not be afraid.
—Isaiah 12:2
News outlets deliver a continuous stream of wild-eyed crazies massacring school children, shooting up theaters, planting bombs where people work and play; and nut-case leaders flexing their muscles and annihilating their enemies. This endless recital of horror feeds fear.
Then there are personal fears: fear of the death of a parent, companion, or child; fear of a devastating disease; fear of the loss of retirement savings.
There is only one antidote to fear: faith in God. His promises are dependable. “I will not forget you” (Isa. 49:15). “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Heb. 13:5).
Don’t let your fear outgrow your faith.
