Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your heart.
—Hebrews 3:15
I have a sticky note in my Bible with the following words:
“This morning I woke up to something that never was before and never will be again. And the me that woke up was never the same before and will never be the same again.”
We all know this verse: “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Ps 118:24).
The first half of that sentence belongs to God: he made this day and gave it to you.
The second half of the sentence belongs to you. You will honor God’s gift and consecrate the day by being happy, or dishonor God’s gift and desecrate the day by being miserable.
This day will be filled with something, and you decide what that something will be.
A day never goes as it comes.
It is well-used, ill-used, or unused.
