But God raised him from the dead.
—Acts 2:24
The resurrection of Jesus was a “But God” event.
Peter on Pentecost: “You, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead” (Acts 2:23–24).
Peter at Solomon’s Colonnade: “You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead” (Acts 3:15).
Peter at the house of Cornelius: “They killed him by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him from the dead” (Acts 10:39–40).
Paul in the synagogue in Pisidian Antioch: “They took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead” (Acts 13:29–30).
