If God is for us, who can be against us?
—Romans 8:31
The first and last verses of Romans 8 bracket the chapter with two wonderful promises: 1) there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (v. 1), and 2) nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus (v. 39).
No condemnation! No separation!
The chapter is animated with questions: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (v. 31). “Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?” (v. 33). “Who is he that condemns?” (v. 34).
No opposition will prevail because of four facts stated in verse 34:
1) Christ died
2) Christ was raised
3) Christ is at the right hand of God
4) Christ is interceding for us
Feast on those fabulous facts, my friend.
Nothing less will do.
Nothing more is needed.
