I will trust and not be afraid.
—Isaiah 12:2
What are you afraid of? Terrorism? Failure? Being alone? Shaky financial future? Illness? Old age?
“Do not be afraid.”
That’s what God said to Abram: “Do not be afraid, I am your shield” (Gn 15:1).
He said the same to Moses, David, Daniel, Mary, Jairus, Paul, and John. He knew each by name, and he knew their fears.
He knows your name and your fears too. And he says the same thing to you: “Do not be afraid, I am your shield.”
Here’s a verse I like: “When I am afraid, I will trust in you” (Ps 56:3).
I like the next verse even more: “In God I trust, I will not be afraid” (Ps 56:4).
There’s a significant difference between those two verses. Do you see it?
The antidote to fear is faith.
