Help me overcome my unbelief.
—Mark 9:24
The child fell to the ground, thrashing and foaming at the mouth.
“How long has he been like this?” Jesus asked.
“All his life,” said his father. “If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes,” said Jesus.
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.”
Are you struggling with the same mix as this distraught dad? Believing, but not completely? Trusting, but not totally?
God won’t delete your prayer from his inbox because you don’t score an “A+” in faith this semester. Trust doesn’t show up full-grown—it grows inch-by-inch, year-by-year, frequently diluted by a pinch of unbelief.
Keep this prayer in your pocket: “Help me overcome my unbelief.”
God won’t give up on you in seasons of doubt.
In seasons of doubt, don’t give up on God.
