Listen to advice and accept instruction,
and in the end you will be wise.
—Proverbs 19:20
“A wise man listens to advice” (Prov. 12:15). Listening to advice leads to wisdom; and wisdom leads to listening to advice.
Not that all advice is good: “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked” (Ps. 1:1). Rehoboam rejected the advice of his elders, followed the advice of his young cronies, and in the backwash of their faulty counsel lost ten of the twelve tribes of Israel.
If you want the best advice available make a beeline for your Bible: “teach me your decrees … I meditate on your precepts … I will not neglect your word … Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors” (Ps. 119:12, 15, 16, 24).
“You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory” (Ps. 73:24).
Your Bible gives guidance here
and promises glory hereafter.
