There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
—Proverbs 18:24
You thought she was your friend. Then you found out that she was talking behind your back, putting you down, revealing information you had spoken in confidence. “Like a bad tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful” (Prov. 25:19). A bad tooth is excruciating; a lame foot unreliable. An untrustworthy friend is no friend.
“Friendship,” wrote George Eliot, “is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words.”
A true friend is faithful in all kinds of weather. A friend with whom you need wear no mask is priceless.
Cherish such a friend. Be such a friend.
A friend is one of the best things you can have,
and one of the best things you can be.
