If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.
—John 7:37
Margaret Bradley, a University of Chicago medical student and veteran marathoner, attempted a Grand Canyon “day run” in 120-degree weather. Unaccustomed to Arizona heat, Margaret died from dehydration.
Yes, dehydration can be fatal.
At Jacob’s well, on the outskirts of Sychar, Jesus encountered a Samaritan woman who had come to fill her water jar. A different thirst had her on the brink of spiritual dehydration. Jesus offered her “living water” (Jn 4:10).
Are you trudging in an arid wasteland where the climate has become intolerable and the thirst unbearable? Are you on the verge of spiritual dehydration? Jesus offers relief: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink” (Jn 7:37); “Whoever drinks the water I give will never be thirsty” (Jn 4:14).
Drink deeply at Jesus’ well of living water.
