Words deliver hope, comfort, and encouragement to people—and praise, honor, and thanksgiving to God. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver” (Prov. 25:11).
Words also wreck friendships, ruin reputations, destroy families, and inflict wounds that never heal. “Their teeth are like spears and arrows, their tongues as sharp as swords” (Ps. 57:4).
Few things do more good than words—and few more harm.
Resolve that what you say today will do good, only good.
