He went in to stay with them.
—Luke 24:29
Sensing that Jesus was going to cast them out of a possessed man, the demons begged Jesus not to destroy them but instead to give them a new home in a nearby herd of pigs. Ergo, the possessed pigs plunged into a lake and drowned—and bacon-loving citizens asked Jesus to leave their region.
So, he did (Mk 5). Jesus doesn’t stay where he isn’t wanted.
On the day of Jesus’ resurrection, he joined two men on the road to Emmaus. As they neared their home, they urged him to stay with them.
So, he did (Lk 24). Jesus stays where he is wanted.
God has given you a precious—and perilous—gift of free will. You can ask him to go away, or invite him in.
Jesus will abide by your decision regarding him.
