Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance
of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees.
—Ezra 7:10
Various translations of this text emphasize three things about Ezra: 1) he was committed to studying God’s Law; 2) to doing it, and; 3) to teaching it.
Study the Word; obey the Word; share the Word.
That was a plan Jesus approved: “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Mt 7:24).
Study the Word—don’t let a day pass without perusing it.
Obey the Word—what it says to do, do.
Share the Word—pass along what you’ve learned, loved, and lived by.
The Bible dusted and displayed changes nothing.
The Bible studied and obeyed changes everything.
