[Nothing] in all creation, will be able
to separate us from the love of God.
—Romans 8:39
I was pulled kicking and screaming into the personal computer age. Now it’s the first thing I turn on in the morning and the last thing I turn off at night. I became sluggish and disoriented when I was disconnected for a full day during a recent power outage.
I know people who would go into total meltdown if they had to do without their smartphone for a day.
Would we have a similar feeling of loss if our connection with God was disrupted for a day?
There is no power outage with God: he is available 24/7. But sometimes, we fail to flip the “connect” switch.
Let’s get our priorities right: “Turn my heart toward your statutes . . . Turn my eyes away from worthless things” (Ps 119:36, 37).
Make God your first thought every morning
and your last thought every night.
