Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
—1 John 3:16
Martha said the happiest day of her life was the day she became engaged. Asked what accounted for her ecstasy on that day, she replied, “It was the feeling that somebody really wanted me and couldn’t be happy without me.”
God wants you so much that he paid a price for you that defies calculation. Look at the Cross. That was the price.
If the knowledge that she is breaking the heart of the mother who gave her birth will not turn the steps of the prodigal towards home, probably nothing will. The person who can look at the Cross, contemplate its proof of love, and turn away unmoved, may be unreachable.
The Cross reveals the heart of the One who wants you enough to die to have you with him forever.
How much are you wanted?
The Cross is the answer.
