The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous.
—1 Peter 3:12
1 Peter 3:12 promises two things: “the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their prayer.”
It’s as if he is leaning forward to lovingly watch the life of the righteous and bending down to clearly hear their prayers.
You say, “but I am not righteous.”
Oh, but you are!
Righteousness is “credited to us who believe in him” (Rom 4:24). To “credit” means to deposit to an account. God has credited righteousness to your account—has declared you righteous as Jesus is righteous (1 Jn 3:7). “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Cor 5:21).
You are never out of the scope of his sight
or beyond the range of his hearing.
