They will call him Immanuel—
which means, “God with us.”
—Matthew 1:23
What a night!
It was the night the world had been waiting for since God vowed that the seed of woman would crush Satan (Gn 3:15).
And since he promised Abraham that in his lineage would be one who would bless all nations (Gn 22:18).
And since Moses pledged that a greater prophet than he would one day come (Dt 18:15–18).
And since Isaiah prophesied that “a child shall be born to a virgin! And she shall call him Immanuel [meaning, ‘God is with us’]” (Is 7:14).
Look at that baby. He looks like any other baby. But that baby is God—with blood and bones, eyes and ears, hands and hair.
What a night! The night God swapped a castle for a cradle and entered our world as a human.
God. Is. With. Us.
That teeny baby in that tiny cradle
changed time and eternity.
