Lean not on your own understanding.
—Proverbs 3:5
It isn’t easy to trust God when you’re neck-deep in problems you don’t understand. But that’s what trust is—confidence in God, not in your own understanding.
Trust is certainty that God is in control when it seems that everything is out of control.
Trust is certainty that God is doing what is right when it seems that everything is going wrong.
Trust is certainty that God is present when it seems that he is absent.
Your understanding is limited. God’s isn’t.
He knows what he is doing; you may not.
He knows where he is taking you; you may not.
He knows why; you may not.
So trust him, even when you don’t understand.
Trust faces East, looking for the dawn,
singing while it is still dark.
