Man is like a breath;
his days are like a fleeting shadow.
—Psalm 144:4
Average life expectancy in the U.S. at this writing is 78.7 years. Compressing that to a 12-month calendar, if you are 30 years old, it is April 18; if you are 35, it is May 12; if you are 50, it is July 21; if you are 65, it is October 2; if you are 75, it is November 16.
You are here for a God-given time, with God-given gifts, for a God-given purpose. The world needs you. We all need you. “But I’m not a gifted person” you say. Yes you are: “Christ has given each of us special abilities—whatever he wants us to have out of his rich storehouse of gifts” (Eph. 4:7 TLB).
“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should” (Ps. 90:12 TLB).
Don’t wish for more time, but for wisdom
to use the time you have more wisely.
