He still speaks, even though he is dead.
—Hebrews 11:4
With the passing of George Theiss, all the members of Bruce Springsteen’s first band were dead—except Springsteen. In an AARP interview, Bruce said George’s death prompted him to write a song: Death Is Not the End.
“I carry so many ancestors with me,” he said. “[In my mind] I experience my father regularly.” “[My deceased band buddies] visit me in my dreams quite often—I see them several times a year. You don’t lose everything when someone dies. You do lose their physical presence, but their physical presence is not all of them. [Their spirit] carries over after death.”
You, too, will continue to have influence beyond death. How you will show up in people’s memories will be mainly determined by how you showed up in their lives while you lived.
Memories will keep you alive
long after you are dead.
