He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
—Psalm 107:29
The storm was ferocious, thrashing their boat with life-threatening fury. The disciples were terrified. Jesus was sound asleep.
How could he snooze when their lives were in jeopardy? “Don’t you care if we drown?” they yelped. But they quickly learned that if you get caught in a squall it’s good to have Jesus in your boat.
“Help!” they shouted to Jesus.
“Be still,” he said to the wind and waves.
And the storm stopped.
You may be in a teeth-rattling storm of your own. The water is rough, and deep, and cold.
Your survival depends on being in the right boat, with the right person. He still stops storms.
No Jesus, no peace.
Know Jesus, know peace.
