The length of our days is seventy years—
or eighty, if we have the strength.
—Psalm 90:10
When you were a child it seemed like forever from one Christmas to the next. Now it seems that the decorations are barely boxed until it’s time to drag them out again.
Time is tricky. For the first half of life the biggest slice of your time on earth is in front of you. Then one day you realize that the majority of your years are behind you.
Some limp through life, crippled with regrets about the way they spent their yesterdays; others by anxieties about their tomorrows.
Relax. God has taken care of your yesterdays: “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Ps. 103:12). And he promises to take care of your tomorrows: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Heb. 13:5).
He has taken care of the past.
He will take care of the future.
