He went without knowing where he was going.
—Hebrews 11:8
God told Abraham, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.” “So Abraham left” (Gn 12:1, 4)—without a clue where he was going.
One night, God told Abraham to take his son to Moriah and sacrifice him as a burnt offering. “Early the next morning Abraham got up” and headed to Moriah (Gn 22:2–3).
You’ve just read two of the most difficult things God ever asked of a person—neither of which made any sense, but both of which Abraham obeyed without argument or question because they were directives from God.
When you crawl out of bed in the morning, you may be entering a day of disruptions. God may send you in a different direction than you had planned. Will you go?
If you don’t listen to everything God has to say,
you eventually won’t hear anything he has to say.
