Can an ax take credit instead
of the one who swings it?
—Isaiah 10:15
“The world does not revolve around you!” Linus said to Lucy.
Lucy, face frozen in disbelief, said, “You’re kidding!”
The apostle Paul’s missionary reports were about God’s work, not about his. At the end of the first journey, he and Barnabas “reported all that God had done through them” (Acts 14:27). On returning from his third journey, he “reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry” (Acts 21:19).
“Can an ax take credit instead of the one who swings it? Is a saw better than the one who uses it?” (Is 10:15).
The pen doesn’t take credit for what is written; it is just a tool in the writer’s hand.
Let’s keep ego in check. We are only instruments that God uses to accomplish his purposes.
God chooses his instruments.
His instruments must choose to be used.
