All things work together for
good for those who love God.
—Romans 8:28
When you’re being battered and drenched by one of life’s inevitable hurricanes, you may find it difficult to buy into Paul’s assertion: “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God.”
But if you can, it will bestow meaning and stability that you’ll find nowhere else. It will provide serenity when in adversity; poise when in distress; faith when in doubt; courage when in danger; and hope when in despair. You will be confident of the ultimate even when being hammered by the immediate.
Pick your verb—it will measure the level of your faith in the promise:
I hope all things will work together for good.
I think all things will work together for good.
I know all things will work together for good.
God is in control—
everything is going to be all right.
