Please pray for me.
—Ephesians 6:19
“More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of,” wrote British poet Alfred Tennyson.
Paul opened his letter to the Ephesians saying that he was praying for them (1:16) and closed it asking them to pray for him (6:19).
Does it come as a shock that a person of Paul’s spiritual maturity felt a need for the prayers of those less seasoned?
He was asking these sisters and brothers to join him in his ministry; to be as much a part of it as he was; to see it as much theirs as his.
Do you feel unimportant? That you’re on the spiritual fringes? That you have nothing to contribute?
Dump those feelings, because they’re wrong.
Your prayers may be a primary ingredient in the fruitful ministry of another.
When you pray, God goes into action.
