They examined the Scriptures every day
to see if what Paul said was true.
—Acts 17:11
I had twin boy cousins who gave their trusting (gullible?) younger sister a lot of pain. Yes, pain.
Coming home from Sunday school, they asked her if she believed God would take care of her. She said she did. They gave her an umbrella and convinced her to jump from the roof of the house. She jumped. The umbrella turned wrong-side-out.
They told their bruised-and-bleeding sister that a pillowcase would catch air and work better. She jumped. All her Sunday school buddies signed her cast.
Satan took Jesus to the top of the Jerusalem temple to test his faith, “Jump!” Satan challenged. Jesus threw Deuteronomy 6:16 at him: “Don’t try to test the Lord your God.”
Make Acts 17:11 your go-to test for what you hear.
Let your weight down on what God said,
not on what someone says God said.
