Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
—Psalm 118:1
The middle chapter of the Bible is Psalm 118. It has some comforting words for times like these—
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” (v. 1).
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid” (v. 6).
“The Lord is with me; he is my helper” (v. 7).
Here’s a trivia question for you: What singularizes the chapters on either side of Psalm 118? Give up?
Psalm 117, the chapter before Psalm 118, is the shortest chapter in the Bible: only two verses. Psalm 119, the chapter after Psalm 118, is the longest chapter in the Bible: 176 verses.
If the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 have given you extra time to think, study, and pray, spend some of it in Psalm 119. You’ll find it far from trivial.
Read your Bible more, and you’ll stress less.
