Seek his will in all you do,
and he will direct your paths.
—Proverbs 3:6
The third chapter of Ecclesiastes opens with fourteen couplets, declaring that life consists of seasons and that each season has its opposite: joy to sadness and vice versa, etc.
Let’s get this out of the way up-front: change is inevitable!
Transitions are tough:
From Homecoming Queen to divorced mom of three.
From big fish to unknown and unwanted.
From happily married to sorrowfully widowed.
From cared-for to caregiver.
From child of the parent to parent of the parent.
Circumstances and roles change.
But God doesn’t.
My friend, Allen Isbell, has a coffee mug with the inscription: “When all else fails, call Dad.” God is always available to help with the heavy lifting.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8).
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
