They did not understand.
—Luke 9:45
“Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you,” Jesus said. The disciples listened . . . but “they did not understand” (Lk 9:44, 45).
Sometimes our spiritual journey takes us down a path marked “Unknown,” which activates an exasperated, “I don’t understand.”
Those present-with-Jesus disciples were perplexed; they didn’t understand what he was saying or how they should respond. Still, they continued to trust him and follow him.
Do the same—even when you don’t understand, trust him. Be certain about God, even when you’re uncertain about what he is doing and about what he is going to do next.
Some things those disciples didn’t understand until after his resurrection and ascension. Some things we won’t understand until heaven is our home.
You may not understand what he’s
doing and why, but he does. Trust him.
