Sin will not rule over you.
—Romans 6:14
His older sister was bossy when they were children: she dictated; he obeyed.
One day his mother told him, “You don’t have to do what she says—she’s not your boss.” That did it. Free at last.
Is Satan exploiting your slip-ups—tormenting you with accusations of what a sorry specimen of Christianity you are?
Satan, with his duffel bag of sins, has no authority over you: “Sin will not rule over you, because you are not under law but under grace” (Rom 6:14).
Borrow a line from Jesus—when he’d had his fill of Satan’s goading, he said, “Go away from me, Satan! . . . So the devil left Jesus” (Mt 4:10, 11). Resist Satan (Jas 4:7). Tell him to hit the road.
Grace is transforming. Satan isn’t your boss.
Slip-ups don’t determine your
relationship with God. Grace does.
