In him we have redemption . . . the forgiveness
of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
—Ephesians 1:7
Enough money can buy almost anything these days.
$52 million will get you a seat on SpaceX to fly to the Space Station. You can own an iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition for $8 million.
Too steep? $100,000 will buy you a lion hunt in Zimbabwe. How about a diamond-encrusted Bluetooth Headset for $50,000?
Still out of range? A Louis Vuitton Skateboard can be yours for just $8,250.
But here’s something money can’t buy: your salvation—redemption, justification. No one is rich enough to buy it . . . and no one is too poor to own it. It’s not for sale. It’s a gift.
“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Eph 2:8).
We neither deserve nor can earn salvation.
So God came up with grace.
