There is no other God like you.
—Micah 7:18
Micah gave no ground to complainers who griped that God was hard to understand and impossible to please.
“Shall [we] come before him with burnt offerings?” they groused. “Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall [we] offer [our] firstborn for [our] transgression?” (Mi 6:6–7).
Enough of that, Micah shot back. What God wants from you is simple: “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Mi 6:8).
God isn’t holding you to an impossible standard. He’s not watching, hoping you’ll stumble so he can zap you. He is not mean. He is not vindictive. He pardons sin, forgives transgressions, and delights in showing mercy (Mi 7:18).
That’s what God is like.
