This is how it will be when
the Son of Man comes again.
—Luke 17:30
In Noah’s day, God wiped a generation from the face of the earth because of their wickedness. In Lot’s day, the stench of immorality was so repugnant God eliminated Sodom and everyone in it.
Jesus said that when he comes again, it will be just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot. He didn’t cite their sins, but described the soil in which their sins grew: “Just as it was in [those] days,” he said, “People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage . . . buying and selling, planting and building.”
There’s nothing wrong with menus and marriage; commerce, agriculture, and architecture. But it’s fatally wrong to let those things be all there is—being so consumed by the temporal that there’s no thought of the spiritual.
Don’t make the mistake of preparing for
everything except the most important thing.
