Come near to God and
he will come near to you.
—James 4:8
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mk 1:35).
Jesus needed time with the Father—just the two of them. You need time with the Father—just the two of you.
Some call it “Quiet Time.” It need not be long, but it needs to be daily. Select a section of Scripture; not a big bite—perhaps just a paragraph or two.
Build your devotional time around three words: Restricted, Reflective, Responsive.
Have a Restricted place: a quiet spot with no distractions.
Have a Reflective mind: ask, “What does the scripture I’ve read say to me?”
Have a Responsive spirit: ask, “What am I going to do about it?”
Seal it with prayer.
We find the time for what
is most important to us.
