Where your treasure is, there
your heart will be also.
—Luke 12:34
At my age, the first thing I do each morning is grab the newspaper and turn to the obituaries. If I’m not in there, it’s a good day. Joking.
Most people don’t read their newspaper straight through from front to back. They turn first to the section that most interests them: sports, business, politics, entertainment.
Our primary interests reveal who we are. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Your treasure isn’t just about money; it’s about whatever is most important to you. It’s where you predominantly invest your time, thought, and energy.
Whatever is preeminent in your life takes possession of your heart—the center of your being. “Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Prv 4:23).
You are a prisoner of your priorities.
