I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
—Habakkuk 3:18
How’s your day going?
Helen’s wasn’t going well. She lived in a nice house, drove a nice car, and wore nice clothes. The good in her life far outweighed the bad, but she was in a rotten mood.
While she was sulking, her computer pinged her that she had calendared a visit today with an elderly acquaintance at an assisted-living residence. En route she stopped by her florist and picked up a bouquet.
“How’s your day going?” Helen asked as she entered the renter’s room.
“The Lord’s been good to me,” said her frail friend. “I have a bed, a chair, three meals a day . . . and sometimes God sends a friend and flowers to my room, just because he loves me and he knows I love friends and flowers.”
How’s your day going?
It isn’t your position but your
disposition that best defines you.
