[M]ay the Lord of peace himself
give you peace at all times and in every way.
—2 Thessalonians 3:16
In preparing his disciples for his death and departure, Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me” (Jn 14:1). “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you” (Jn 14:27).
Take to heart those words, as if spoken directly to you.
He has planted peace in the garden of your heart, but there may be some weeds growing there too: worry, anger, bitterness. Weed your garden daily.
Peace proliferates and weeds wilt when you uproot destructive moods and fix your mind on the Lord: “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you” (Is 26:3 NLT).
Peace of mind rides in tandem
with being at peace with God.
