Because I live, you also will live.
—John 14:19
Grieving women trudged to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus, only to find the tomb empty. “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” an angel asked. “He is not here; he has risen!” (Lk 24:5, 6).
Paul declared that Jesus is “the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep . . . in Christ all will be made alive” (1 Cor 15:20, 22). “I am the resurrection and the life,” Jesus said. “Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live; and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die” (Jn 11:25–26 NRSV).
Life is a finger snap, an eye blink. You don’t know if you’ll have another day. What you do know is that when the sun sets here and comes up there, the new day is forever.
This life is fleeting.
The coming life is forever.
